bmibaby has announced seven new destinations in its summer 2012 schedule. The airline will operate flights to Gaibrltar, Corfu, Murcia and Naples from East Midlands Airport next year. It has also launched operations from Birmingham Airport to Lisbon, Rome (Fiumicino) and Barcelona. In addition, the airline has launched year-round flights to Cologne from East Midlands and to Prague from Birmingham. “The new routes are part of our expansion strategy for the Midlands,” said Julian Carr, managing director of bmibaby. “We recently announced that will be basing two additional aircraft in the Midlands from the end of our summer 2011 flying programme and will now operate a total of 45 routes from the Midlands. We are committed to further growth in this region.” The news comes after Birmingham Airport opened its new terminal last week with a new duty free store, security environment and larger arrivals area.
