Ryanair is considering launching domestic flights in Sweden. The budget airline’s chief executive, Michael O’Leary said in an interview today that he is looking to take on SAS Group in its own backyard, and that he is already in talks with seven airports in the country. While he didn’t name the hubs, O’Leary said that they were mainly located in the centre and north of the country.
“Our focus in the next two or three is more likely to be in Scandinavia and central Europe,” O’Leary said in the interview with Bloomberg. “It just depends which airports come up with the best package of costs,” he added.
Ryanair currently offers flights to seven Swedish hubs; Gothenburg, Karlstad, Malmo, Skelleftea, Smaland and two Stockholm airports – Skavsta and Vasteras.
