Design Hotels to add first Sydney hotel

Design Hotels will add its first member in Sydney this year, with the addition of the new QT Sydney hotel.

The new hotel will form part of two historic buildings; Gowings department store and heritage-listed State Theatre. While the interiors will have a contemporary look, historic elements such as the original timber floors will been retained, while the facade and accompanying gargoyles have been restored. 

QT Sydney will feature 200 rooms, most of which come equipped with oversized bathtubs and showers. Hotel facilities will include the Gowings Bar & Grill restaurant, Parlour Lane Roasters cafe, and a new spa.

The property is expected to open in September 2012.
