Mandarin Oriental to open in Guangzhou
By Mark Elliott, 13 June 2012, Wednesday 9:51 AM
Mandarin Oriental will open a new hotel in Guangzhou later this year.
The new luxury property, which will feature 233 rooms, 30 suites and 24 serviced apartments, is located above TaiKoo Hui – a 450,000m² mixed-use development comprising luxury retail outlets, office space and a cultural centre, located in Guangzhou’s Tianhe central business district.
All rooms will feature in-room entertainment systems, spa-inspired bathrooms with separate wet and dry rooms, circular bathtubs and rainforest showers. A club lounge will also offer private check-in, meeting rooms, breakfast, afternoon tea and evening cocktails.
Five F&B venues include a fine dining grill restaurant and a Cantonese restaurant, as well as the Mandarin Cake Shop, a cocktail lounge and lobby lounge. Other facilities include the Spa at Mandarin Oriental with nine private treatment rooms, a fitness centre, a 25-metre heated outdoor pool, and a 750m² ballroom.
The opening of the Mandarin Oriental Guangzhou forms part of a Chinese expansion strategy for the company, with other new hotels planned in Beijing, Shanghai and Chendgu.
