HPL Hotels & Resorts will be taking over the management contract of luxury Maldives resort Soneva Gili on 1 July 2012.
The former Six Senses property will be rebranded as the Gili Lankanfushi Maldives from next month, and HPL said it will be making “minor enhancements” to the resort in future.
“Gili Lankanfushi Maldives will complement the current HPL portfolio of hotels,” said Stephen Lau, Chairman of HPL Hotels & Resorts, which is a subsidiary of Singapore-based Hotel Properties Ltd.
“We intend to keep the spirit of the resort accordingly; guests booked after the change in management can be assured that the terms and conditions of their reservations will remain unchanged. And the Gili Lankanfushi team looks forward to welcoming them to our island paradise in the Maldives.
“Gili Lankanfushi, Maldives is positioned as an upmarket boutique resort that stands at the forefront of the eco-luxury sector and acts as a benchmark for luxury resorts,” Lau added.
Located on Lankanfushi Island, in the North Malé Atoll, Gili Lankanfushi Maldives features 45 over-water villas. The Soneva Group recently announced that it would relinquish its management of the resort due to its new focus on resorts with private residences.
Gili Lankanfushi Maldives marks Hotel Properties’ fifth property in the Maldives, following the Four Seasons Resorts at Kuda Huraa and Landaa Giraavaru, Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma and Rihiveli Beach Resort. It also becomes the 12th property in HPL’s portfolio.
