MAS unveils first A380 with special livery
By Amanda Greenwood, 27 June 2012, Wednesday 8:55 AM
The first Airbus A380 sporting Malaysia Airlines’ special livery was unveiled yesterday, ahead of the aircraft’s entry into service this Sunday (1 July 2012) on the Kuala Lumpur-London route.
The livery was designed by MAS specifically for its new A380 and was applied post-delivery by Airbus in Toulouse.
Altogether MAS has ordered six A380s, each of which will seat 494 passengers in a three-class configuration.
The first aircraft operate three weekly flights on the KLIA-London Heathrow route. Flights depart the Malaysian capital on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays, returning from London the following day. This will rise to daily following the delivery of MAS’ second A380 in August.
MAS revealed that bookings for the early flights have been strong, with load factors of up to 89% expected on the first seven services.
