Expedia ranks top hotels in Insiders’ Select
By Amanda Greenwood, 5 July 2012, Thursday 5:48 PM
Expedia has released its annual Insiders’ Select lists naming the top hotels.
The website has pulled together its reviews and ratings as well as its experts’ views to devise the list, which is gaining pace as a benchmark for standards amongst hotels and the travel industry. Fourteen properties in the UK are in the list, with four in the top 100.
“Approximately 80% of the hotels on this year’s list are new, showing that consumer views are ever-changing and hoteliers need to be vigilant in order to meet these needs and increase their bookings,” said Seamus MacCormaic, senior director market management at Expedia Lodging Partner Services. “By being featured on this exclusive list, Insiders’ Select hotels are validated as a credible area to stay, helping to drive consumer demand whilst highlighting the quality of service provided”.
The list has been launched after one of the hospitality industry’s leading figures urged hotels to keep up with the ‘relentless pace of change’ in the technology sector on hotels.
Speaking in London last week, Laurence Geller CBE, president and CEO of Strategic Hotel Capital said hospitality and tourism industries need to grasp the challenges with sites such as Facebook and TripAdvisor.
“Increasingly, groups of companies collaborate to investigate new opportunities and exploit new markets. Technology brings new surprises every day, some that can shake up entire industries in a matter of months,” he added.
