Boeing continued to rack up orders for its new B737 MAX on the third day of the Farnborough Airshow, with a commitment from aircraft leasing company Avolon.

The Dublin-based lessor has agreed to purchase 10 B737 MAX 8s and five B737 MAX 9s, as well as 10 standard B737-800s. The commitment has a list-price value of US$2.3 billion and also includes rights for a further five B737 MAXs.

“Boeing has shared a partnership with Avolon from the beginning,” said Ray Conner, President & CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes. “Avolon has a significant and strategic role to play in the aviation finance industry and we welcome them as one of the launch lessors of the 737 MAX. With rising fuel costs, the 737-800 and 737 MAX enable Avolon to offer their customers unsurpassed fuel efficiency today and well into the future.”

The latest deal is the fourth B737 MAX order by an aircraft leasing company this week. On Monday, Boeing secured an order for 75 B737 MAXs with Air Lease Corporation. Then on Tuesday this was followed up with a 20-aircraft order from AFALCO and a 75-plane deal with GECAS.
