Boeing won significantly more aircraft orders than Airbus at this week’s Farnborough Airshow.

The US planemaker sealed orders for 370 aircraft worth US$35.3 billion at current list prices. All of the orders were for Boeing’s single-aisle B737 aircraft, including 285 orders for the new fuel-efficient B737 MAX.

Airbus meanwhile, secured orders for 115 aircraft worth US$16.9bn, including an order from Cathay Pacific for 10 A350s – one of very few wide-body aircraft deals placed at the show.

The European planemaker also several secured commitments for its new single-aisle jet, the A320neo, showing the strong demand from airlines around the world for more fuel-efficient short- and medium-haul jets.
