Grand Circle adds Myanmar river cruise
US-based Grand Circle Cruise Line has unveiled plans to launch a new river cruise in Myanmar.
The new Irrawaddy River itinerary will take guests on a seven-night cruise between Bagan and Mandalay, aboard the 34-passenger RV Paukan. The tour will also include several nights in both Yangon and Bangkok.
Grand Circle Cruise Line’s joins sister company, Overseas Adventure Travel (OAT), recently sold out its small group adventures to Myanmar this year, with 850 US travellers opting to visit the emerging country.
“The release of Aung San Suu Kyi from two decades of house arrest and her election to parliament has helped this once isolated country begin opening its doors to the West,” said Alan E. Lewis, Chairman & CEO of Grand Circle Corporation. “Burma has become the hottest travel destination of the year. With our new cruise tour, we’ll be able to offer more Americans the chance to experience this intriguing country.”
Departures for the new Irrawaddy tours are available for March-May and September-December 2013. Grand Circle is also offering six-day extensions in Laos.
