Air NZ boosts Queenstown flights

Air New Zealand is increasing capacity on its Auckland-Queenstown route.

The carrier will boost capacity to 5,200 weekly seats each way during the southern hemisphere summer period. Flights will increase from three to four per day in November, rising to five per day from December 2012 to March 2013.

As well as the extra flights, Air NZ will boost capacity by deploying the larger Airbus A320 aircraft on some existing services, replacing Boeing 737 aircraft.

“We’ve grown total passenger numbers on this route by 70% over the past five years and the trend is continuing,” said Air NZ’s Group General Manager for Australasia, Bruce Parton. “We’re already seeing great patronage in and out of Queenstown this ski season with seat capacity on this route up 12% and we’re planning to build on that momentum during the peak summer months.”
