MAS to fly A380 to Paris
By Mark Elliott, 9 October 2012, Tuesday 7:11 AM
Malaysia Airlines (MAS) has unveiled plans to fly its Airbus A380 to Paris.
From 1 March 2013, the national carrier will fly its 494-seat A380 on the Kuala Lumpur-Paris Charles de Gaulle route, replacing the existing daily Boeing 777 services.
In addition, MAS has revealed that its KL-London Heathrow A380 flights will go double daily next month. The national carrier will add the second daily flight to the route on 24 November 2012 following the introduction of two more A380s into the MAS fleet.
“Ever since our A380 operations on the Kuala Lumpur-London route from 1 July this year, the customer response has been overwhelming,” said MAS Group CEO, Encik Ahmad Jauhari. “Encouraged by the success of our current daily A380 operations on this route, we have decided to replace the existing B747 daily flights with the A380 to make it double daily on the superjumbo. This initiative is also our efforts to standardise our product offering on this popular route for oneworld customers when we join the alliance by early next year.”
MAS has ordered six A380s, all of which will be equipped with 494 seats in three classes – eight in first class, 66 in business class and 420 in economy.
