Film director Peter Jackson has appeared in Air New Zealand’s new safety video as part of the airline’s tie-up with his new The Hobbit film.
Jackson, alongside the character Gollum; descendents of The Hobbit’s author J.R.R. Tolkien; Dean O’Gorman, who plays the Dwarf Fili in the movie and two super-fans from the franchise’s largest fansite appear in the new safety video named ‘An Unexpected Briefing’.
Taking its name from the new films full title, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, the video will be used from today and also includes ‘secret Elvish codes’ that can be put in a dedicated website to win a holiday and tickets to the global premiere of the movie.
“Sir Peter Jackson and the team at Warner Bros. Pictures in the United States were fantastically supportive during production of the video. To have Gollum step off the movie screen for the first time and into an Air New Zealand aircraft is incredibly special and Sir Peter Jackson delivers a superb cameo,” said Mike Tod, general manager marketing and communications at Air New Zealand.
The video makes the start of its two-year marketing campaign around the film’s release in December.
