UK operator Barrhead Travel has announced that it is to charter a record number of British Airways flights in 2013, many of which will be from Scotland to popular cruise destinations.
The new routes will include flights from Glasgow to Alicante and the only direct flights available from Aberdeen to Alicante and Barcelona.
The firm will also charter flights to Palma, Malaga, Alicante, Barcelona and Venice with a total of 20,000 seats available between May and October 2013. The number is twice that of 2012.
Commenting on the move, chief executive of Barrhead, Sharon Munro said: “2013 will see our most ambitious flight programme to date, including new routes from Aberdeen to Barcelona, Glasgow to Alicante and three flights per week from Glasgow to Palma.
“Cruise has become a major part of our business and continues to grow year-on-year. These flights will make it easier for our customers in Scotland to access cruise departure ports and enable us to offer full fly-cruise packages.”
