Venetian Macao hits MICE milestone
For the first time since its 2007 opening, the Venetian Macao’s main exhibition centre, the CotaiExpo, has hosted one million visitors in the first 10 months of a year.
The record figure was achieved following a series of high-profile conferences and trade fairs at the venue this year. Boosted by the thriving MICE market in Asia and mainland China, these have included the China Catering Expo, China International Auto Expo, and G2E Asia – the gaming exhibition.
With six more MICE events still to come in 2012, CotaiExpo is on course to achieve a record year.
“The Venetian Macao is thrilled at this accomplishment,” said Gunther Hatt, executive vice president of operations for Venetian Macau Limited. “With more and more large-scale MICE events coming in to the Cotai Strip and to Cotai Expo, we are making a global name for ourselves as a venue that can handle the largest and most high-end events all under one roof.”
The 74,700m² venue is one of the largest convention halls in Asia, spread across two floors and divisible into six separate halls. It can host almost 5,000 delegates at a time.
“I am extremely proud of the entire convention and exhibition team at The Venetian Macao,” said Gene Capuano, Venetian Macau’s vice president of convention & exhibition operations. “We would not have been able to reach this milestone without their enthusiastic dedication and professionalism. With the meeting and convention facilities at Sands Cotai Central across the street adding to the already robust facilities at CotaiExpo, our total MICE offering is unbeatable in Macao.”
