Venetian Macao launches ‘Winter in Venice’
The Venetian Macao launched a new festive season of attractions this week, called ‘Winter in Venice’.
Running from now until 13 January 2013, the integrated resort will play host to a range of shows, displays and events, including one of the world’s largest architectural 3-D video mapping projects ever created and a 3-D light and sound show.
“Winter in Venice was first introduced at The Venetian and The Palazzo in Las Vegas last Christmas to enormous applause. This year, thanks to the support of the Macao Government Tourist Office (MGTO), we are delighted to introduce Winter in Venice to the region and to offer a grand celebration of the winter season for people who visit Macao,” said Edward Tracy, president & CEO of Sands China. “We are inviting everyone, from families and couples to business travellers, locals and Macau first-time visitors, to join us for the holiday fun. Winter in Venice will be the ultimate destination and an iconic event creating an unforgettable holiday experience for all.”
A major highlight of Winter in Venice is the 3-D light and sound show, titled ‘The Magic of the Seasons’, which will be shown nightly at The Venetian Macao lagoon, every 30 minutes from 6-10pm. The light show is created by digital video mapping technology, which spans over 4,000m² with images projected onto The Venetian Macao’s façade. The resort is also offering night-time gondola rides in the outdoor lagoon during weekends for guests wanting to see the light show.
The Venetian’s front exterior has been decorated in winter themes based on the city of Venice, while the resort also features one of Macau’s largest outdoor Christmas trees and an outdoor synthetic ice-skating rink. A range of performers including magicians, dancers and contortionists are also on hand to entertain guests.
The international dance show, Swan Lake on Ice, is debuting at the Venetian Theatre this Christmas.
