British Airways has been granted permission to start its in-flight entertainment screens throughout the entire length of its long-haul flights.

Following approval from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), the carrier will start its screens as soon as passengers start to board and will continue to offer entertainment until the plane taxis. Rolled out from 1 December (Saturday), it is thought passengers will be able to see an extra hour of films or TV.

“We know how much our customers enjoy our carefully selected in-flight entertainment so we’re delighted that now they’ll be able to pack even more of the programmes and films into their long-haul flights,” said Frank van der Post, director of brands and customer experience at BA.

The announcement comes as BA prepares to launch its new route to Seoul on Sunday (2 December) using a Boeing 777. The service will operate six times a week.
