Adverse weather has caused delays and cancellations across UK airports as the country deals with snow throughout the south east and Scotland.
Luton, Stansted and Aberdeen airports all had to deal with the elements this morning, with Stansted having to close at 6am in order to deal with the problem as the first flights of the day were due to take off. Heathrow and Gatwick were unaffected.
The airport reopened at 8:30am and was fully operational at the time of writing.
Overall 23 departures and 20 arrivals were cancelled, according to ITV News.
A spokesman for Stansted said: “Northern Essex seems to have got the worst of the snow and we had to shut the airport at 6am. The roads round here are treacherous. We’re working to get the airport open again and hope to start flights again some time this morning. We’re advising passengers to check with their airlines.”
