Norwegian Cruise Line has been awarded the 2012 Quality Ship Management Award from American Maritime Safety (AMS).
The accolade, which was given at the association’s annual safety awards, awarded Norwegian for the upkeep of its safety and quality standards. On the night the AMS praised Norwegian’s commitment to safety guidelines and implementation of measures.
Norwegian has brought in many additional initiatives in recent times, including ‘Safety Thought of the Day’, which is automatically sent to all staff members each day, a ‘no blame’ policy, the Safety Culture Concept and Kaizen Project.
The Kaizen Project is a plan to increase team members’ efficiency while simultaneously raising safety levels through staff feedback.
“This award is a testament to our valued team members, who work hard each and every day to provide our guests with an amazing vacation experience,” said Svein Sleipnes, senior vice president of marine operation for Norwegian Cruise Line. “We are honored to accept the 2012 Quality Ship Management Award and will continue to strive for the highest safety standards for our guests and team members.”
