New convention centre to open in Penang
A major new exhibition venue is set to open its doors in Penang.
The Penang Waterfront Convention Centre (PWCC) will feature 10,000m² hall that can be divided or used as a single space for exhibitions, conventions and corporate events, or used as a 9,000-seat arena for concerts. Separate entries and multiple lobbies mean that different events can be conducted simultaneously.
The new venue will be managed by Singapore-based MICE specialist Suntec, which also operates the Suntec Singapore International Convention & Exhibition Centre.
“Penang Waterfront Convention Centre is… a big step in the ongoing development of the MICE industry in Penang. With the right mix of convention and exhibition activities, Penang has enormous potential to become one of the MICE hubs of Malaysia. We are confident that with Suntec Penang’s market knowledge, experience and expertise, together with our partner IJM Land, PWCC will become the focal point for business delegates both regionally and internationally,” commented Arun Madhok, CEO of Suntec International.
PWCC will form part of IJM Land’s new 61.5-hectare waterfront development in Penang, which will also include retail malls and hotels.
