Minor Hotel Group, which operates the Anantara brand, has launched its Oaks Hotels & Resorts brand in Asia.
The Thailand-based hotelier took control of Australia-based Oaks in 2011, and has now unveiled the Oaks Bangkok Sathorn as the brand’s first property in Asia. The new serviced residence property is located in the next door to Anantara Bangkok Sathorn and shares some of the hotel’s facilities. Catering for both long- and short-stay guests, the new Oaks property features 115 apartments, from studios to three-bedroom units, with balconies offering both city and river views.
Facilities include one of Bangkok’s longest hotel swimming pools, a spa and tennis court, plus two restaurants and meeting space.
Following the launch in Thailand, Minor plans to launch a second Asian Oaks property in China next year. The Oaks Sanya is currently under development on Hainan Island and is scheduled to open in late 2013. The new property will feature 122 two- and three-bedroom duplex apartments, plus a Chinese restaurant, bar, kids’ club and gym.
“Since taking ownership of Oaks Hotels & Resorts in 2011 we have been looking forward to expanding the brand into Asia and these two properties are the start of that expansion. Oaks is a great complementary addition to Minor Hotel Group’s portfolio and we plan to continue to grow the brand in Asia and beyond in the year ahead,” said Dillip Rajakarier, Minor Hotel Group’s CEO.
Minor now operates more than 80 properties under its Anantara, Avani, Oaks and Elewana brands.
