Interest in technology, LGBT travel, the Middle East, Asia and South America has grown this year at the ITB Berlin trade show, organisers have announced.
The four-day trade show has seen an increase in exhibitors from the regions and areas for this year’s event, which takes place in early March.
Partner host country Indonesia naturally has a larger presence, with South Sudan, Yemen, Iraq, Nepal, Bhutan, Taiwan and China amongst the newcomers or those with a larger stand.
The show’s technology section is said to be amongst its “boom” markets with an expanded mobile and social media section and hotel portals now having their own area.
Its ‘Pink Pavilion’ for the LGBT market has been filled, with ITB saying the sector has “long ceased to be a niche market”.
“The high level of demand from emerging destinations such as Asia and South America and the growth of popular markets such as Travel Technology are proof of how stable the global travel industry is,” said David Ruetz, head of ITB.
