Emirates adds second route to the Philippines
Emirates has announced plans to launch flights to a second destination in the Philippines.
From October 2013, the Dubai-based airline will add a new direct service to Clark International Airport, located near Angeles City, approximately 80km from Manila. Flights will operate daily, complementing Emirates’ existing triple daily service to Manila. The Clark launch follows the recent expansion of a bilateral air service agreement between the UAE and the Philippines.
“There has always been a growing demand for Emirates’ services since we connected Manila with Dubai and our constantly expanding network on six continents. The launch of flights between Clark International Airport and Dubai will offer our passengers the flexibility of choosing from two destinations in the Philippines,” said Tim Clark, President of Emirates. “I would like to extend Emirates’ thanks to the government of the Philippines and the Civil Aviation and Clark Authority that have made the start of this service possible,” he added.
Emirates will serve Clark using a two-class Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, with flights departing Dubai at 0400 and arriving at Clark at 1640. The return service will depart the Philippines at 1835 and arrive back in Dubai at 2305.
The move will coincide with the launch of Cebu Pacific’s (CEB) first flights to the Dubai. From 7 October 2013, the Philippine low-cost carrier will commence daily services between Manila and Dubai, using an all-economy Airbus A330 aircraft. The launch will mark CEB’s entry into the Middle East.
