Carnival subsidiary Holland America Line has announced that it is to return to Australia in 2013-14 with both the ms Oosterdam and Volendam.
The ships’ tours will include itineraries taking in the Great Barrier Reef and other natural highlights as both vessels circumnavigate the continent.
Cruises will range from 10- to 14-day sailings including Sydney roundtrips and Auckland to and from Sydney voyages. Departures will run from October 2013 to March 2014.
The announcement comes shortly after Holland America confirmed it was increasing its Asian presence with the Volendam and Rotterdam both spending part of the winter there.
“Over the past few years the popularity of the Australia, New Zealand and South Pacific region has grown tremendously because of its beauty and diversity,” said Richard Meadows, executive vice president, marketing, sales and guest programmes for Holland America Line. “Our array of itineraries includes popular ports, stunning island visits, extended stays, overnight calls and enticing pre- and post-cruise options to make the trip in this spectacular region a memorable experience.”
The line will also be offering a 34-day circumnavigation of Australia that will leave Sydney on 20 October 2013 and make 20 ports of call. The journey will be taken counterclockwise and includes calls at Brisbane, Cairns, Darwin, Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne and the Great Barrier Reef.
