Low cost airline bmibaby has today (Friday, 12 February 2010) celebrated the start of its new service from East Midlands Airport to Venice. The inaugural flight sold out, and the other flights to Venice departing from East Midlands Airport this weekend are at an average of 95 per cent capacity. bmibaby is the only airline operating direct flights from the airport to the heart of Venice and flights have started just in time for Valentines Day. Passengers on today’s inaugural flight were welcomed onboard by the airline’s Italian team who were dressed in traditional Venetian carnival costumes and carnival masks. The airline expects to carry over 44,000 passengers on the service which will operate until 30 October 2010 on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday from East Midlands Airport. Fares start from just
