Gulf Air launches three new destinations

Gulf Air, the national carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain today announced the launch of regular services to three new destinations – the Holy City of Medina in Saudi Arabia, Alexandria in Egypt and Aleppo in Syria. From this month (June), these cities will become permanent additions to its network. While in the past the airline has operated flights to Alexandria and Aleppo as part of its summer schedule, the airline has never flown to Medina before.
Announcing the launch of these services at a hosted lunch held today Gulf Air Chief Executive Officer Mr. Samer Majali said, “On the back of the successful launch of our flights to three cities in Iraq recently, I am delighted to announce the beginning of our services to another three new destinations. We are committed to providing better convenience to our customers and tailoring our network to meet their needs and demands. There has always been strong demand for a direct services to the holy city of Medina and we have launched Alexandria and Aleppo as permanent destinations following the strong customer demand to continue flying to these cities after the summer season. We expect these cities also to be successful addition to our network.”
He continued, “This is part of our strategy to further strengthen our regional network and connect customers from more regional cities to Bahrain and beyond. Whether it is a business, leisure or religious trip, our passengers will find flying with Gulf Air is much faster and comfortable with our seamless onward connections and our brand new A320 and the luxurious Embraer aircraft in these routes.”
Service to Medina will begin from 17 June 2010 with four-weekly flights – Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays – using the recently acquired luxurious Embraer aircraft.
Services to Alexandria will start on 2 June which will be a four-weekly flights – Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, while Aleppo will become a regular service from 15 June offering customers three weekly service, i.e., Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
