Air India suspends bookings for 5 days with ongoing strike

With more pilots joining the ongoing strike, Air India management has decided to suspend the bookings for the next five days to tackle the situation, reports said.About 200 executive pilots have also joined the strike by pilots associated with the Indian Commercial Pilots’ Association (ICPA). Taking this into account, the airline has decided to suspend the bookings for the next five days, a senior official was quoted saying by PTI.Yesterday, Civil Aviation Minister Vayalar Ravi had met the Prime Minister to brief him on the situation. The report said Ravi was understood to have said that he fully supported the actions by the Air India management against the striking pilots.Meanwhile, the Delhi high court had come down heavily on the striking Air India pilots for defying its order to resume work.Times of India reported that Justice Gita Mittal had castigated the pilots during a brief hearing of contempt plea by national carrier’s management. “You have breached the court’s order. It is very serious,” he was quoted saying.
