China Airlines (CAL) has announced that from 28 April 2011, flights from Taipei to New York will stop over in Osaka instead of Anchorage. The carrier will operate the route three times a week using a Boeing 747-400 aircraft.
At present, CAL already operates seven flights a week between Taipei and Osaka, and this change will bring the total to 10 flights a week. CAL is also offering free transfers to any point on the eastern seaboard of the USA for those purchasing tickets before 16 June 2011.
The new services will depart Taipei’s Taoyuan International Airport every Monday, Thursday and Saturday at 8am, arriving at Osaka’s Kansai International Airport at 11.20am. The service will then depart Osaka at 12.50pm, arriving at New York’s JFK airport at 1pm. The return service will depart JFK at 2.30pm, arriving in Kansai at 6.10pm the following day. The service will then depart Osaka at 7.50am (on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays), arriving back in Taipei at 9.40pm.
