Two ex-Thomas Cook/Co-op Travel travel agents have used their redundancy payments to set up their own travel agency.
Claire Milby and Lisa Barnes, who between them have 47 years’ of travel industry experience, are to open the store in an old furniture shop in Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria. It will be known as Travel the Globe and a member of Advantage Managed Services (AMS).
“We both loved working for an independent previously, really enjoy selling the customer the right holiday for them, and building relationships with customers and suppliers so it made sense to set up on our own,” said Milby on the decision.
The travel agency will open later this week on 23 August with the aim to become the area’s top independent travel agency.
Milby added: “We will deliver good old fashioned customer service from the initial enquiry to the client picking up their travel documents.”
AMS will provide holiday booking technology, back office functions, marketing material and business advice to the travel agency.
