Mandarin Oriental has unveiled plans for its first hotel in Shenzhen.
Scheduled to open in 2017, the new luxury property will form part of the Shum Yip’s UpperHills mixed-use development, which will comprise office towers, a residential complex, retail space outdoor space and parks.
Within this development, the hotel will be positioned at the top of a 400-metre-high tower, with the 190 rooms and suites offering views of the city and surrounding parkland.
Facilities at the hotel will include an executive club lounge, a 1,200m² spa with six treatment rooms, an indoor swimming pool and extensive conference and banqueting space, including two ballrooms and a range of smaller meeting rooms.
There will also be a range of F&B outlets, including a rooftop restaurant and bar, a Chinese restaurant with private dining rooms, an all-day dining venue, lobby lounge and a Mandarin Oriental Cake Shop.

The hotel, and the UpperHills project, will be located close to Shenzhen’s Futian central business district and the main custom and immigration checkpoint to Hong Kong.
