Research conducted by Global Market Insite (GMI) has found that 26% of holidaymakers will check their work emails while away.
The study, which also found that men were twice as likely to call into the office while on holiday, did say that around 70% of us will sever all ties with work while away.
“It is becoming increasingly common for workers to call into the office from the beach, pool or ski-slope.” Ralph Risk, marketing director EMEA, GMI commented. “With a quarter of employees reading work emails on holiday, it seems that people are having trouble leaving the office behind. Whether that’s because people can’t switch off or are worried about what might happen if they aren’t available, it may mean employees no longer find holidays such a good source of rejuvenation and relaxation.”
