Philippines flag carrier Cebu Pacific has christened its new Airbus A330 during a ceremony at Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
The aircraft is the second A330 the company has took delivery of this year, which will be used to service Cebu’s long-haul service – with routes launching in October.
The ceremony’s guest of honour was vice president Jejomar Binay who was joined by the company’s chairman Ricardo Romulo and CEO & president Lance Gokongqwei.
The new aircraft is to be used on a route from Manila to Dubai, servicing the growing Filipino community who are based in the Middle East.
“We estimate over half a million Filipinos are working and living in the United Arab Emirates, and this figure is bound to increase in the future,” said Binay. “When Cebu Pacific launches its services next month, it will the first time a Philippine carrier lands in Dubai in 15 years. I hope that this will only inspire Cebu Pacific to remain committed to serving the global Filipino community.”
