Thai Airways International (THAI) has revealed that its regional low-cost carrier, THAI Smile, will commence flights to mainland China and Laos.
From 27 October 2013, the airline will commence three weekly flights from Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi airport to Changsha, the capital of China’s Hunan province. Also from this date, THAI Smile will start operating three weekly services from Bangkok to Chongqing.
Then from 16 November 2013, a new service will be launched operating daily from Suvarnabhumi airport to Luang Prabang, the UNESCO World Heritage-listed city on northern Laos.
All three routes will be operated using the airline’s 174-seat Airbus A320 aircraft.
THAI Smile launched in July 2012 with flights to Macau, but the Changsha and Chongqing flights will be its first services to mainland China. The airline also flies to destinations in India, Myanmar and Sri Lanka, along with a range of domestic services.
