Boeing and ANA have completed the contractual delivery of the first ever 787 Dreamliner. Celebrations to mark this milestone begin today in the US, with the aircraft due to fly to Tokyo to join ANA’s fleet on Tuesday.
“Now that the airplane is ready to deliver, the entire team is ready to celebrate,” said Scott Fancher, Vice President and General Manager of the 787 programme. “We look forward to honouring our launch customer ANA before they fly their first Dreamliner home to Japan.”
The delivery will be a huge relief to both Boeing and ANA. The Japanese airline has had to endure a series of delays dating back to 2007. ANA will now operate the aircraft on a special charter to Hong Kong, before commencing a regular domestic schedule.
