P&O Cruises is taking its British heritage to the extreme, with a new Union flag design to be rolled out across its fleet.
The bold design will be placed on all of P&O’s ships to cement its British history and credentials, with its blue funnels to include the rising sun motif.
Aurora will be the first ship to receive the new design during a drydock period later this year, followed by new ship Britannia in 2015.
It will then be introduced onto P&O’s other ships by the end of 2016.
“In our 177th year we are unveiling a new, contemporarily styled livery which symbolises all that we stand for, pointing to the future and celebrating our British heritage. This bold new look will make our ships yet more distinctive and recognisable across the world,” said P&O’s CEO David Dingle.
“Our ships will proudly carry on their bow Britain’s most distinctive symbol, the Union Flag, to all corners of the globe. The P&O Cruises name will be emblazoned along their hulls and the Rising Sun, the enduring symbol of our heritage, will shine from their funnels,” he added.
Britannia will display the longest version of the Union flag anywhere in the world at 94 metres.
