easyJet Holidays will become a tour operator through a new partnership with TUI Travel’s OTA Hotelopia.
The company has completed its contract with lowcostbeds and will now work with Hotelopia to provide holidays across Europe to multiple European source markets.
Its UK holidays will fall under ATOL protection, while new websites are planned for France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Switzerland and the Netherlands all protected under local regulations.
The contract will run from May 2014 for three and a half years up to the end of 2017, with the pair previously working together to provide hotel accommodation to easyJet passengers.
Mandy Round, general manager of easyJet Holidays said: “With much of its initial growth having taken place in the UK, the planned expansion in Europe is an exciting next step which will enable us to offer the great quality and value for money easyJet’s customers have come to expect. An improved hotel portfolio, more user friendly websites and an efficient booking process will all come together to provide an easy and seamless experience. Over the course of the partnership not only can easyJet holidays’ customers look forward to a better selection of handpicked properties but will also benefit from bespoke designed deals and exclusive offers.”
The new websites will include more than 27,000 self-catering options through Interhome; the Spanish Paradores Hotels brand and Disneyland Paris Hotels. Hotelopia is now recruiting up to 100 people in Mallorca.
John French, head of easyJet Holidays at Hotelopia added: “We are really excited to have won this contract. We believe it is a perfect partnership combining our extensive range of accommodations in Europe and our industry leading expertise with such a prestigious brand in the European travel industry. easyJet has a clear roadmap for the next phase of its business development and we’re very proud to be part of this.”
easyJet Holidays had previously been working with lowcostbeds since 2011.
“We have significantly grown easyJet holidays in the UK with LowCostBeds since 2011 and I would like to take this opportunity to thank them for their contribution,” said Round.
Tim Buckman, European managing director for lowcosttravelgroup said: “We are delighted with the growth and success of the easyJet Holidays business over the last three years. Our world class team, product and service, have demonstrated our capability to operate large, outsourced businesses on behalf of our important industry partners. Our continued focus on rolling out and growing our own brands, lowcostbeds and lowcostholidays, on a global scale, is delivering significant growth for the group, with sales in our core businesses up over 40% year on year, and the excellent relationships we have built with both easyJet and Hotelbeds will remain and be part of our future growth.”
