CAPTAIN DHAFFER AL ABBASI has been appointed the chief executive officer (CEO) for the Gulf Aviation Academy (GAA). He brings with him over 20 years of experience in the civil aviation industry. His vast aviation experience will prove instrumental in implementing the new expansion plan set out by the board over the coming several years.
ANDREW GIBSON has been appointed vice president – spas and wellness at FRHI Hotels & Resorts. He will be based in Dubai and responsible for development and execution of the company’s spa strategy, including defining and implementing spa standards globally across all of FRHI’s leading hotel and spa brands.
CLAUDIO MELLI has been appointed general manager of the newly launched Salalah Rotana Resort. He has extensive experience across the USA, Middle East, Europe and Asia, Melli brings with him more than 20 years of hospitality experience, having worked across brands such as IHG, Starwood, Raffles and Hilton among others.
AHMED FREIWAN has been appointed rooms division manager of Radisson Blu Resort Sharjah. He brings with him more than 16 years of experience. Freiwan has worked in various positions for different properties within Rezidor Hotel Group in Jordan, Muscat, Iran, Dubai, Lebanon and held the same position at Radisson Blu Resort Sharjah in 2012.
JEAN-LOUIS RIPOCHE has been appointed general manager for Starwood Maldives. He brings with him over 30 years of experience in the hospitality industry. Jean-Louis has worked at Le Meridien Boston, Le Meridien Kuwait, Le Meridien Phuket, Le Meridien Jakarta, Le Meridien Hotel & Tower Bangkok and Le Meridien Khao Lak.
