Qatar Airways has unveiled plans to launch flights to Bali using its Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

The new direct service to Indonesia’s ‘Island of the Gods’ will take off for the first time on 21 July 2014, initially using an Airbus A330 aircraft. But from October this year, Qatar Airways will deploy its new B787-8 on the route, with all the airline’s latest cabin products.

“The start of non-stop services from Doha to Bali offers travellers from around the world access to the popular leisure destination in a reduced time, from across our expanding global network,” said Qatar Airways’ CEO, Akbar Al Baker.

“We are delighted to confirm that the Boeing 787 Dreamliner will operate on this route from later this year, offering the very latest in design and comfort to passengers who wish to travel on this non-stop route from the Middle East.”

The flights will take approximately 10 hours, departing Doha at 0235 each day, and arriving at Ngurah Rai International Airport in Denpasar at 1735. The return service will then leave Denpasar at 1935, getting back into Doha just before midnight.
The new service is likely to be popular with the European market, offering a new one-stop option for leisure travellers wanting a break in Bali. No other Middle Eastern airline operates direct to the island.

And once the Dreamliner is deployed on the route, passengers will be able to experience Qatar Airways’ latest in-flight offerings, including 22 flat-bed seats in business class and 232 in economy, all with modern in-flight entertainment systems, power outlets and USB ports.

The move marks the latest stage in Qatar Airways’ Dreamliner expansion; earlier this week the airline announced plans to fly the new aircraft to Moscow, and on 18 June it will deploy the B787 to Tokyo Haneda Airport.
