TUI Travel has updates its aviation arm as it continues with its ‘One Mainstream’ strategy.
The travel company is developing one ‘virtual’ airline from its five tour operator airlines to increase profitability and offer a more seamless experience.
To support the move into one airline a new management structure will be in place from 1 June 2014.
Henrik Homann has already been appointed managing director of aviation, while current MD of Thomson Airways Chris Browne will become chief operating officer of aviation from June.
John Murphy will replace her as managing director of Thomson Airways.
Alex Huber and Gunther Hofman will continue their managing director roles at TUIfly Nordic and Jetairfly but will also become strategy and planning director for aviation and operational and process effectiveness director respectively.
Tom Chandler will continue to be director of aircraft acquisition and finances while Christope Todt will head up the transition office before becoming aviation finance director.
“This is a very exciting new chapter in TUI Travel’s growth plans. This new way of doing business will increase collaboration and best-practice sharing while delivering operational efficiencies across the whole mainstream sector,” said Homann. “I would like to congratulate the new Aviation Leadership team on their appointments. I believe the collective expertise we have in this team ensures we will deliver these ambitious plans across our airlines. Leveraging our scale and expertise ensures we are greater together than apart. I feel very privileged to be leading us on this journey.”
