Another Malaysian aircraft has been forced to make an emergency landing.
An aircraft operated by Malaysia Airlines’ regional subsidiary, Firefly, was forced to make an unscheduled landing at Penang Airport on Thursday morning due to a problem with the plane’s landing gear.
The airline confirmed that the aircraft had just taken off from Penang, bound for Kota Bharu, when the pilot found he was unable to retract the aircraft’s landing gear. He then made the decision to return to Penang, where Firefly said the aircraft made a “normal landing”.
None of the 64 passengers and four crew members were injured in the incident.
The flight was operated as a codeshare with MAS, and the incident comes just days after another MAS flight was forced to make an emergency landing in Kuala Lumpur due to a burst tyre.
