The report tracks online trends every quarter for flights, hotel and other bookings on all ZUJI sites across Asia Pacific.
Hong Kong emerged as the top destination for Singapore-based travellers. Bangkok, Jakarta and Shanghai, Tokyo, Kuala Lumpur and Sydney also feature prominently in ZUJI Singapore’s Top 10.
General Manager, Singapore & Director of Marketing ZUJI APAC Philip Ho said, “People living in Asia prefer to travel within the region, a trend ZUJI has observed for the past few years.”He added, “We are also seeing an increase flow of both business and leisure travellers to China from Singapore with Shanghai featuring in the top 5 destinations in Q1 this year.”
The Online Travel Report also reveals a record number of online travel purchases, noting 87% of travel bookings made on ZUJI Singapore were transacted over the internet compared to the 85% recorded for the same period last year.
The report points to other rising trends such as allowing more lead time for bookings, staying more than one night at a destination and booking by SMEs online. It also showed 67% of male passengers travel alone.
Mr Ho said “The statistics revealed by the report indicate that online travel booking, especially with ZUJI, is gaining traction in Singapore. Be it bargain hunters or savvy business travellers, ZUJI has something for everyone.”
