The world’s first hotel booking app for Google Glass has been launched by online travel agency Destinia.
Developed for Destinia by Glob3Mobile, the new ‘Hotel Near Me’ app enables users to find the nearest hotels based on their GPS position.
By swiping the side of their Google Glasses, users can scroll through the list and filter hotels by price. The glasses can also read out a brief description of the hotel and allow users to view photos. Users can then reserve the hotel with Destinia.
“Technology is revolutionising tourism, making the traveller’s day-to-day life easier and easier. Companies like ours must always be on the cutting edge, anticipating our clients’ needs,” said Destinia’s CEO, Amuda Goueli.
“We are working to perfect the augmented reality, which allows users to find hotels in their immediate vicinity.”
Destinia said it is planning to add more features to the app in future, including the ability to refine their searches with additional voice commands.
The ‘Hotel Near Me’ app is currently on Google’s internal platform, awaiting final approval.
