Thai AirAsia X has unveiled the second stage in its expansion, with the launch of flights to Japan.
On 1 September 2014, the new long-haul low-cost carrier will start operating two new routes connecting Bangkok with Tokyo and Osaka.
The Tokyo service will depart Bangkok’s Don Mueang International Airport daily at 0100, arriving at Tokyo Narita Airport at 0915. The return service will then leave Narita at 1030, getting back into Bangkok at 1505.
On the Osaka route, flights will leave Don Mueang at 1625 every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, getting into Kansai International Airport at 2350. The return leg then departs Osaka at 0110 the following morning, arriving back into Bangkok at 0500.
Both routes will be operated using a 377-seat, two-class Airbus A330-300 aircraft.
“Today we are very excited to be Thailand’s first long-haul, low-fare carrier to offer direct flights from Bangkok to Tokyo and Osaka,” said Nadda Buranasiri, CEO of Thai AirAsia X.
“This has been a highly anticipated moment for us and for many Thai travellers who are looking forward to convenient, low-fare and high-value travel options to Japan.
“We are pleased to contribute to the further increase number of tourists travelling between the two countries with our daily direct flights between Bangkok and Tokyo and five flights per week between Bangkok and Osaka. We are also confident that the demand for this market will continue to substantially grow,” he added.
Tokyo and Osaka become only Thai AirAsia X’s second and third routes, following the launch of flights to Seoul earlier this year.
