Etihad has announced plans to launch direct flights to Kolkata.
Commencing on 15 February 2015, the new route will operate daily, direct from Abu Dhabi. This will mark Etihad’s 11th destination in India, following Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kochi, Kozhikode, Mumbai, New Delhi and Thiruvananthapuram.
And the Kolkata route will mark the start of a major expansion spree for Etihad in the first half of 2015. In March the airline will commence flights to Madrid, while flights to the Ugandan city of Entebbe will get underway in May. Then in June Etihad will launch three new routes, to Edinburgh, Hong Kong and Algiers.
“Our global network development in the first half of 2015 supports a long-term vision to provide travellers with an extensive range of destinations and connections over Etihad Airways’ Abu Dhabi hub,” said James Hogan, president & CEO of Etihad.
“These new destinations have been selected to expand our coverage and strengthen our customer proposition in the strategically important markets of Europe, Asia and Africa.”
This expansion will see Etihad’s network grows to 107 passenger and cargo destinations.
