Starwood Hotels & Resorts has continued to expand its Westin brand in China with the opening of a new resort in the southern island province of Hainan.
The Westin Blue Bay Resort forms part of the Blue Bay Town resort complex in Qingshui Bay, which overlooks the South China Sea and also features an 18-hole golf course.
The resort offers 356 rooms, suites and villas, all with balconies and sea views. Facilities include a large outdoor pool, fitness centre, kids’ club and China’s largest ‘Heavenly Spa by Westin’, which spans more than 2,200m².
F&B options include three restaurants, including a noodle bar, and three bars and lounges, including a rooftop bar overlooking the sea. The resort also offers more than 2,600m² of function space, plus large lawn areas for outdoor events.
“The Westin Blue Bay Resort is one of four Westin properties opening in China by year’s end, underscoring the rising demand for the popular brand in this fast-growing market,” said Brian Povinelli, global brand leader for Westin and Le Méridien.
“Westin is on track to surpass 20 hotels in China by year’s end and increase its portfolio by 50% in the next three years with the addition of 11 new hotels in China.”
This opening follows last month’s debut of the Westin Zhujiajian Resort in Zhoushan, on China’s east coast, and the Westin Chongqing Liberation Square – the brand’s 200th opening worldwide.
