OLE DROSS has been appointed as business development manager for Exotic Voyages team in Asia. Based at the regional headquarters in Vietnam, Dross will apply his experience to help the tour operator combine Western concepts and standards with Asian travel.
ANDREAS FLAIG is the new executive vice president of development in the Asia Pacific for Carlson Rezidor. Flaig will now be based in the Singapore office, joining the team from Aareal Bank AG in Germany, where he started the bank’s first hotel advisory and asset management practice.
MURAT UCAN has been appointed as the new general manager of the Swissôtel Ankara. Prior to joining, Ucan was with Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts, where he was responsible for the pre-opening of the brand’s hotel in Istanbul, as well as the opening and managing of their hotel in Ankara.
ALLAN FEDERER is the new general manager at Fairmont Hamilton Princess. Having worked at multiple hotel brands such as Carnival Hotels & Resorts and Fairmont’s Royal York in Toronto, Federer’s previous position was the general manager of The Ritz-Carlton in Moscow.
UGUR TALAYHAN joins the Raffles Hainan team as general manager. Talayhan started in the hotel industry as a chef de partie at the Crowne Plaza Hotel and most recently held the position of general manager at the Westin Xi’an.
PHILIP SMITH has been named as the next general manager of Fairmont Chengdu in China. With more than 30 years, Smith will lead the pre-opening activity at the hotel, which is expected to open in late 2015. Smith was previously the general manager of the Fairmont Yangcheng Lake.
GRAHAM HEWITT has been welcomed as general manger of the Fairmont Nanjing. Hewitt started his career as director of finance with the Sheraton Hotel group and most recently occupying the position of general manager at the Sheraton Nanjing Hotel & Tower.
CHERYL ONG joins Raffles Singapore as director of sales and marketing, having spent three years in the same role at St Regis, Singapore. Ms. Ong already has substantial experience in the luxury hospitality, banking, sports marketing and aviation industries.
DANIELA MAECKLE has been appointed as director of sales and marketing at Swissôtel Bremen. Ms. Maeckle began her career in the hotel industry at Hotel Alpenrose in Zermatt, working her way up to her previous position as director of sales MICE at Hilton Spain & Portugal hotels.
TATE HUSBAND has joined the Fairmont Jakarta as director of sales and marketing. Husband arrives from Swissôtel Grand Shanghai where he was director of sales and marketing, to assist in conceptualisation and strategies ahead of the property opening in 2015.
JEFF CHENG has been promoted to general manager of the Fairmont Yangcheng Lake. Cheng started his career in food and beverage, moving from chef at properties like the Ritz-Carlton and the Star City Casino Sydney to director of food & beverage with the Intercontinental Hotel Group.
LUCA CESARINI is the new executive chef at the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit. A graduate of the Italian College for Culinary Arts in Stresa, Italy, Cesarini has experience working in renowned restaurants around the world. He joins from the Pelican Hill Resort in Newport Coast, US.
