Starwood Hotels & Resorts has opened its first Sheraton hotel in the historic Chinese city of Changde, Hunan province.
The new Sheraton Changde Wuling Hotel features 313 rooms and suites, offering views of the city and Baima Lake. Set to open on 30 September 2014, the Sheraton Club Lounge will also provide a place for executive guests to have breakfast and evening drinks.
The hotel will also offer extensive meeting and event space, with 12 function rooms covering 2,500m² of floor space, including a 990m² ballroom.
In terms of F&B the Sheraton Changde Wuling has international and Chinese restaurants, a pub and a lobby lounge, while other facilities include a ‘Link@Sheraton’ IT station in the lobby, a fitness centre, indoor swimming pool and spa.
“We are very excited to… continue the Sheraton brand’s heritage as the first international branded hotel in burgeoning urban locations,” said Qian Jin, Starwood’s president for Greater China.
“Local demand for the Sheraton brand is surging, driven by the region’s robust economic growth and rapid infrastructure development, and our new hotel is well positioned to serve the increasingly refined hospitality needs in Hunan province.”
Sheraton Changde Wuling joins the existing portfolio of more than 60 Sheratons across Greater China, with a focus on the country’s emerging second and third tier cities.
