VietJet Air has penned a leasing agreement with GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS) for two Airbus A320 aircraft.
The two single-aisle jets are part of the major order placed by the Vietnamese low-cost carrier in February this year for a total of 100 A320s. The new jets are scheduled to be delivered between 2014 and 2018.
This latest agreement will see Airbus deliver the two new A320s in November and December 2014, before being sold to GECAS and then immediately leased back to VietJet.
VietJet currently operates domestic routes and international services to Bangkok, Singapore and Seoul.
The airline is also planning to launch a new Bangkok-based subsidiary, Thai VietJet Air, before the end of the year.
