Starwood Hotels & Resorts has opened The Castle Hotel in northeast China, which forms part of its Luxury Collection.
This distinctive property is designed as a traditional Bavarian castle, set on a hill close to the city of Dalian, overlooking Xinghai Bay and the Yellow Sea.
It offers 292 rooms and suites plus 67 residences, all with sea views. Guests can also dine at three F&B outlets, including a Cantonese restaurant and a traditional European option featuring home-brewed German beer. Other facilities include an indoor swimming pool, fitness centre and a spa with saunas, massage services and three “entertainment rooms” for groups.
For the corporate market the Castle Hotel also includes a ballroom, seven function rooms and a 4,000m² rooftop garden.
“The fact that Starwood has opened five Luxury Collection hotels in China in less than five years, with an even more robust pipeline, reinforces the increasing demand for high-end hospitality where domestic travel continues to thrive,” said Paul James, global brand leader for St Regis, the Luxury Collection and W Hotels.
“We are thrilled to debut The Castle Hotel in Dalian, an enchanting city whose diverse cultural heritage blends seamlessly with its modern point of view.”
The Castle Hotel joins Starwood’s existing Luxury Collection portfolio in China, which also includes the Astor Hotel in Tianjin, Twelve at Hengshan and The Honga Hotel in Shanghai, and The Royal Begonia Resort in Sanya. The Azure Qiantang in Hangzhou was also recently signed into the collection.
