TUI UK & Ireland has warned of staff redundancies as it unveiled plans to close its Coventry office.
The travel company has entered a consultation process with staff based at the office who will be asked to consider relocating to other UK sites in contact centres.
Most will be relocated to Swansea or Luton while other will remain with an outsourced specialist provider. The Coventry office is due to close in December 2015.
However it warned that others will face redundancy with a consultation process to start on 2 October for 45 days.
It comes as the company looks to shift and become an online-driven firm after spending the last year introducing new technology and processes.
A statement from TUI said: “The proposed changes are not a reflection on the great work done serving customers by all the teams based in Coventry. They are the result of many months of research, consideration and discussion about the future of how TUI UK & Ireland communicates with its customers and the conclusions have not been reached lightly.
“TUI UK & Ireland is committed to working with and supporting all staff impacted if the proposed changes needed to deliver the customer centric strategy and enhanced customer contact experience are made.”
